Nurses Recorded on a Cellphone: Surgeon Arrested on Suspicion of Raping a Sedated Patient

Hospital nurses documented alleged sexual assault during surgery, leading to the arrest of a plastic surgeon in Spain.
During a breast augmentation procedure at a private hospital in Spain, two operating room nurses noticed unusual behavior by a plastic surgeon after the patient had been fully sedated.

The nurses recorded what they observed on a mobile phone.

In the approximately thirty-second video, the doctor is allegedly seen committing a sexual act on the patient, who remained motionless due to general anesthesia.

The alleged assault occurred on December fourth in an operating room rented by the surgeon at the IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta private hospital in the Murcia region.

The recording was handed over to the police and has become central evidence in the investigation of the surgeon, who is suspected of rape.

The nurses first reported the incident to hospital management and later filed a formal police complaint.

The case was transferred to the police unit specializing in assistance to women and families.

Three days later, the surgeon was arrested at his mother’s home in Alicante.

A judge in Molina de Segura, in the Murcia province, ordered his temporary detention without bail.

The decision followed the surgeon’s choice to remain silent during his court appearance and was based on the seriousness of the alleged offenses and concerns about the risk of flight, as he lives and works outside the Murcia region.

Police have not ruled out the possibility that additional complaints may be filed by former patients.

The patient involved, a local resident in her menopausal years, was unaware of the alleged assault at the time due to anesthesia and submitted a complaint only after being informed of the suspicions.

She and the two nurses have already provided testimony.

The court has ordered the investigation file to remain sealed while experts examine the recording and biological evidence.

The surgeon’s lawyer has argued that the required surgical clothing and medical equipment make the alleged sexual contact impossible and warned against harm to his client’s presumption of innocence amid widespread public reaction.

The IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta hospital stated that the surgeon was not a staff employee but had rented the operating room to perform the procedure, a common practice in plastic and aesthetic surgery.

Hospital management emphasized its full cooperation with authorities and indicated it is considering joining the legal proceedings, provided that the rights of the victim are not compromised.

According to his professional profiles on social media, the suspect claimed between twelve and fifteen years of experience in plastic surgery and operated in several private clinics in Murcia, Valencia, and Madrid.

He was active on social media platforms.

The Spanish Society of Plastic Surgery announced that it had expelled him from its membership and initiated disciplinary proceedings.

The Medical Association of Murcia stated that he is not registered with the organization and is not employed within the public healthcare system.
